You do realize, of course, that the Stuart Commission conducted a nationwide search to find the city manager they're now shoving out the door.

Last year the city paid consultant Colin Baenziger & Associates $24,500 to find the best person for the job. Initially, there were 88 candidates; the consultant pared it down to 10, then commissioners voted for their top five. The top vote-getters all got an interview.

And from this exhaustive process, Dave Ross emerged. He started work as city manager Oct. 2

Now, barely seven months later, commissioners are giving him the bum's rush…
